Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu Province, introduced 10 measures on May 24 including subsidies for travel agencies and scenic sites to boost culture and tourism industries as Covid-19 subsides in the country.
The supportive measures, aimed at the full market recovery of culture and tourism, will reward top-performing travel agencies, scenic spots, cultural tourism enterprises, star-grade tourist restaurants, theaters, and other operators between May and July, the period expected to witness a peak tourist season.
Travel agencies that will receive more than 5,000 tourists to Nanjing during the period will be ranked according to the number of days the tourists stay in the city as well as the number of tourist attractions they visit. The top 30 travel agencies will be each given 200,000 ($28,063) to 300,000 yuan as a reward.
Meanwhile, a 200,000-to-300,000 yuan subsidy is earmarked for each of the top 10 national-level scenic spots (resorts), which has the greatest quarter-on-quarter growth in the number of tourists, and reports no safety accident or service complaints.
The national and provincial key rural tourism villages will be eligible for 100,000-to-300,000 yuan rewards if they are ranked among the top 10 in terms of the number of tourist arrivals and tourism revenue.
The top ten performers among the "Nanjing Characteristic Cultural Tourism Stores" that earned that title last year will also be able to win rewards within the scope of 50,000-100,000 yuan.
Depending on factors such as room occupancy rate and catering revenue, the top 20 star-grade tourist restaurants will receive the subsidy of 200,000 to 300,000 yuan.
