In the first six months of this year, the China-Europe freight train trips in Jiangsu Province reached 1,300. As of July 11, the total since the service’s inception rose to 16,297, marked by a train departing from the Raohua Gate Railway Yard of Nanjing Railway Logistics Centre for Belarus.
The province has intensified coordination of the freight train services to expand the transportation network and improve quality. In the six months, 107,000 TEUs were transported by freight trains. Compared to last year, it took 28 days less to surpass the milestone of 1,000 freight train trips, reflecting deeper trade connections.
Jiangsu was among the first provinces in China to provide cross-border freight train services. The international freight route linking Lianyungang City with Almaty, Kazakhstan was launched in 1992. Additionally, Suzhou was one of the first cities in China to launch a China-Europe freight train in 2013 as part of the "Belt and Road Initiative."
