The Jiangsu-Japan Open Innovation Cooperation Exchange took place in Tokyo on June 17, attracting more than 500 participants from Japanese governmental departments and the country’s industrial and commercial sectors. Xin Changxing, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, delivered a keynote speech at the event.
Xin highlighted that Jiangsu is the top destination for Japanese investment in China, where Japanese-funded enterprises have maintained a good development trend and created a mutually beneficial and win-win situation. Meanwhile, a growing number of Jiangsu enterprises are investing in Japan.
He noted that Jiangsu is an attractive place for investment for its vast market, well-developed industries, abundant human resources, efficient transport and logistics, and supportive business environment. As China is committed to fostering the new quality productive forces, primarily driven by innovation, Jiangsu welcomes continued investment from Japan for long-term development and collaboration towards a brighter future.
Wu Jianghao, Chinese Ambassador to Japan, stressed that China and Japan are major economies and also important economic and trade partners. He said China's economic growth will provide more opportunities for bilateral economic cooperation and contribute to global economic development. Jiangsu, being an economic powerhouse, holds unique developmental advantages, especially in cooperation with Japan.
Wu expressed hope that Jiangsu and Japan can actively explore new cooperation areas, enhance their complementary advantages for a win-win situation, and make greater contributions to the stable development of China-Japan relations.
Representatives from Japanese companies, including Panasonic Holdings Corporation, ITOCHU Corporation and TOWA Corporation, also spoke at the event, sharing ideas on deepening cooperation.
The event also saw the signing of 22 key cooperation projects with a total investment of $2.19 billion, spanning biomedicine, low-carbon technologies, high-end equipment and intelligent manufacturing.
Suzhou City introduced the latest development of the China-Japan (Suzhou) Local Development Cooperation Demonstration Zone, and Nantong City highlighted its international cooperation in the advanced manufacturing industry. Other cities, including Nanjing, Wuxi and Changzhou, also held various activities to support the exchange.
