Construction of China's largest offshore solar farm officially began in Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province on May 19.
Invested by China National Nuclear Power Co., Ltd, the 2 million kilowatt pilot PV project on tidal flat is expected to become operational in June 2024.
Over its 25-year operating period, the project is estimated to generate an annual average of 2.2 billion kWh, sufficient to meet the annual production and living requirements of 230,000 people in a moderately developed country. The use of this renewable energy source is equivalent to saving about 680,000 tonnes of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 1.77 million tonnes annually.
