Grundfos Group celebrated the opening of its advanced manufacturing plant in Changshu City, Jiangsu Province on March 21, a milestone of Denmark’s largest standalone overseas investment project in nearly a decade.

From ground breaking to completion, the project spanned just 396 days. It began production three months prior to the official launch, achieving sales of nearly 140 million yuan during this period.

As a global leader in water pumps and water technology solutions, Grundfos entered Chinese market in 1995 and now operates two factories, a research and development center and a logistics center in China. This latest high-end facility involved an investment of $100 million and covers an area of nearly 35,000 square meters.

The plant incorporates leading technologies to boost intelligent operations and environmental performance. Notable features include a highly insulated structure that minimizes heat loss, and a management system that uses real-time environmental data from sensors to intelligently adjust ventilation and lighting, thus reducing energy consumption.

Moreover, the solar power system can generate 1.3 million kilowatt-hours annually, covering approximately half of the plant’s electricity needs. A rainwater recycling system utilizes filtered rainwater for air-source heat pumps, cleaning and landscaping, saving about 7,000 cubic meters of water each year.
