The Wuxi-Singapore Industrial Park (WSIP) celebrated its 30th anniversary on December 18.
On December 18, 1993, the Wuxi Municipal People's Government and Singapore’s Sembcorp Industries signed an agreement to develop WSIP. This marked the first industrial park invested and built by the city-state in China and the first international cooperation park in Jiangsu Province.
After three decades of development, despite its limited area of 3.5 sq km, WSIP has attracted foreign investment of over $15 billion and achieved a total foreign trade volume of nearly $200 billion.
WSIP is not only a modern industrial park in Wuxi with the highest concentration of high-tech firms but also one of the most important bases for strategic and emerging industries in the Yangtze River Delta region. It is now home to more than 200 enterprises from 20 countries and regions, including 11 listed enterprises. The output value of high-tech companies accounts for 80% of the park’s total.
The park will focus on the development of six key industries: Internet of Things, integrated circuits, biomedicine, intelligent equipment, auto parts and new energy. Additionally, it will target three emerging sectors: metaverse, hydrogen energy storage and artificial intelligence, with the aim of becoming a highly competitive international cooperation park.
During the conference, Wuxi National High-tech District and Sembcorp Industries signed a new round of strategic cooperation agreement. The event also saw the signing of agreements for 23 projects with a total investment of 46.4 billion yuan.
