Longtan container terminal in Nanjing City received the Green Port Award under the Green Port Award System (GPAS) program from the APEC Port Services Network (APSN) in Bangkok, Thailand on November 7.

This marks the second recipient of the prestigious award in Jiangsu Province, following the Zhangjiagang Port.

The GPAS program is a green evaluation system for ports in the APEC region developed by APSN. It represents an integral part of APSN’s ongoing efforts to promote the green growth of the APEC port industry. The GPAS aims to enhance environmental awareness, promote sustainable growth and facilitate the exchange of best practices.

In recent years, Nanjing Port Longtan Container Co Ltd has intensified its efforts to transform into a container hub while pursuing sustainable development. For example, it promoted the adoption of lithium-ion battery, installation of roof-top PV systems, depot automation and multimodal transport, which helped reduce carbon emissions and advance pollution control.
