International symposium on Chinese music research held in Nanjing

The Music School at Nanjing Normal University successfully held the International Symposium on Chinese Music Research in China and Overseas: Rethinking of Chinese Music Research as a Global Discipline on November 4 and 5.

The event drew industry experts and academic professionals from multiple domestic and international institutions. Participants included Dr. Mercedes Dujunco from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Dr. Huib Schippers, President of Applied Ethnomusicology at International Council for Traditions of Music and Dance, Professor Wang Chuanfeng of Macalester College, and Dr. Gil-Curiel Germain from University College Cork, Ireland.

The scholars also included Professor Zhang Boyu from the Central Conservatory of Music, Professor Du Yaxiong from the China Conservatory of Music, and Dr. Gisa Jähnichen from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music.

Discussions spanned several topics including the evolution of Chinese music research, academic discipline development, and emerging studies within the field.
