Added value of Jiangsu industrial enterprises above designated size up 5.3% in July

The total added value of industrial enterprises above the designated size in Jiangsu increased by 5.3% year-on-year in July and 7.8% in the first seven months compared to the same period last year, according to the province's Department of Statistics on August 27.

The added value of light and heavy industries in the month registered 1.6% and 6.6% growth, respectively, compared to July last year.

The joint-stock and private enterprises above designated size saw their added value in July rising by 10.1% and 11% year-on-year, respectively, compared by 6.5% growth in the province's large and medium-sized enterprises.

Examining the industrial sectors, the province's 24 sectors, or 60% of the total, achieved positive growth in added value in July. Notably, the iron and steel industry led the way with a 17.6% expansion, followed by the chemical industry, electric machinery and automobiles, up by 13.9%, 12.8% and 10%, respectively. The added value of the production and supply of electricity, thermal power, gas and water showed an 8.1% increase compared to July 2022.
