Jiangsu has three cities - Nanjing, Suzhou, and Wuxi - recognized as China Software Cities, ranking first nationwide, according to the China Software Industry High-quality Development Zijin Index released at the 2023 China (Nanjing) International Software Product & Information Service Trade Fair.
Data showed the cumulative software revenue of Nanjing, Suzhou and Wuxi accounted for more than 70% of the provincial total and 11.8% of the national total.
Jointly compiled by the Jiangsu Center of China Economic Information Service and the Digital Economy Research Center of the CCID Consulting, the index showed that Nanjing and Wuxi ranked at the forefront in terms of industrial profits in Jiangsu. With a large number of software parks, Nanjing took the provincial lead in the comprehensive strength of software enterprises and also made remarkable achievements in technological innovation. Suzhou was also at the forefront of R&D expenditure.
Along with the trade fair is the China Industrial Software Supply and Demand Conference opened on August 21. A report released by the conference said China's industrial software industry faces a great opportunity for development and various challenges, in the aspects of technological foundation, product serialization, supply-demand disparity, and industrial ecosystem.
Yu Dingfang, General Manager of Nanjing Glaway Software Co Ltd, said efforts are needed to promote collaboration among enterprises, institutions of higher learning and software companies. It's also important to focus on the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises and scalable applications to form heathy interaction among R&D, application and iteration.
At present, several cities in Jiangsu have built software industrial parks with significant clustering effects. Nanjing boasts Nanjing Software Valley and Jiangbei New Area Industrial Technology Research and Innovation Park. In Wuxi, after more than 20 years of development, Wuxi Software Park has transformed from a single office building into an industrial complex, hosting a vibrant digital economy featuring digital cultural creativity, software and information services, and Internet of Things. In Changzhou, the Creative Industries Park is home to companies specializing in industrial, medical and government service software.
