Jiangsu's six cities record GDP of 200 bln yuan in Q1

The gross domestic product (GDP) of Jiangsu Province exceeded 2.9 trillion yuan in the first quarter of 2023, which represents a year-on-year growth of 4.7%, according to the province's Bureau of Statistics.

In the same period, the added values of Jiangsu's primary, secondary, and tertiary industries reached about 63.44 billion yuan, 1.26 trillion yuan, and 1.62 trillion yuan, respectively, showing an increase of 3%, 4.5%, and 5% year on year.

Among the province's 13 cities that have subordinate districts, Suzhou, Nanjing and Wuxi took the top three spots with regional GDP of 518.66 billion yuan, 423.02 billion yuan, and 339.18 billion yuan, respectively.

Overall, six of the 13 cities surpassed the GDP threshold of 200 billion yuan, and all 13 cities registered a positive GDP growth compared to the same period last year. Lianyungang City led the province with a year-on-year growth rate of 9.5%.
