On April 12, the ecological development demonstration zone of the Yangtze River Delta held a joint investment promotion meeting, which witnessed the signing of projects worth 15.4 billion yuan.

The zone, covering around 2,300 square kilometers, includes Qingpu District of Shanghai, Wujiang District of Suzhou in Jiangsu Province and Jiashan County of Jiaxing in Zhejiang Province.

This is the first time that these three areas have held such an investment event, sending a clear signal to the market about their coordination and cooperation for integrated development.

The newly agreed projects cover various fields such as the digital economy, including the projects of computing center and e-paper display; the innovative economy field, including the projects of low-carbon industry research center and permanent magnet motor; and eco-friendly resort development.

With the aim of building an advanced international hub for marine IT research and development, the Jiangsu Provincial Marine Information Technology and Equipment Innovation Center unveiled programs focusing on three directions: next-generation marine IT facilities, deep and distant sea information transmission, and land-sea-air-space information network and application.

Chen Jianzhong, deputy head of Wujiang District, mainly introduced the Suzhou South Railway Station S&T New Town project, which will be a comprehensive transportation hub featuring green practices, technology and innovation. The station will also become one of the important hubs of the delta region's intercity railway network.

"Relying on the natural environment, high-capacity transportation hub and advanced manufacturing base, the new town will strive to accelerate the cultivation of digital economy hub," Chen added.
