About 25,000 runners participated in the 2023 Suzhou Marathon held on March 26.

Consisting of a full marathon, a half marathon, and a family run, the city marathon allowed runners to see several water attractions and landmarks en route, such as the Moat River, the Grand Canal, Jinji Lake, Hanshan Temple, Xiyuan Temple, and the Gate of the Orient.

The medal design was inspired by the windows featuring the Begonia flower, a typical architectural element of classical gardens in Suzhou. The design also paid tribute to landmarks such as the Grand Canal, the Gate of the Orient and Huqiu Tower.

The running event this year also included a 4-day market covering an area of 3,000 square meters, attracting well-known local companies. The fair showcased Suzhou's specialties, such as Pingtan, a kind of storytelling and ballad singing in Suzhou dialect, and traditional pastries.
