The number of ships and passengers passing through the river and sea border control points in Jiangsu Province increased by 27.6% and 29.2% year-on year, respectively, in March, and were 18.3% and 18.9% higher than figures in February, according to the Jiangsu Entry-Exit Border Inspection Station.

The traffic volume of ships and passengers in February declined due to multiple factors including global trade friction. However, in March, amid the quick rise of foreign trade and other positive factors, the province's ports saw a rebound in traffic.

Lianyungang, Taicang and Zhangjiagang ranked the top three cities, accounting for 20.4%, 17.9%, 12.5% of the province's total, respectively. Most of the province's international routes registered a growth of ships and passengers, especially with South Korea, Japan, Indonesia and Russia.
