Tourism booms in Jiangsu during National Day holiday

During the National Day holiday from October 1 to 7, Jiangsu’s major monitored attractions recorded over 38.8 million tourist trips and a tourism revenue of nealy 16.5 billion yuan across the province’s 638 A-level scenic spots, 195 provincial-level rural tourism villages, 45 provincial-level nightlife destinations and 84 museums, with the daily average up 4.23% and 4.55% year-on-year respectively, according to Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism.

During the first six days of the holiday, Jiangsu ranked first nationwide in terms of payments over the China UnionPay network by non-local tourists. Data from platforms such as Baidu.com, Meituan.com, Ly.com and Ctrip.com indicated that Jiangsu ranked second nationwide for the number of non-local tourists, second only to Guangdong.

The province’s night-time economy also saw significant growth. In the first six days, the 45 provincial-level cultural and tourism consumption hubs hosted 9.27 million visitors, with total spending reaching 5.1 billion yuan, marking year-on-year increases of 6.67% and 7.34%, respectively. Night-time spending accounted for 31.15% of the province’s National Day holiday tourism revenue, up 4.1 percentage points from last year.

The most popular tourist attractions included the Confucius Temple and Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum in Nanjing, the Pingjiang Historical and Cultural Block, classical gardens and Jinji Lake in Suzhou, as well as the Yunlong Lake and Pantao Mountain Scenic Area in Xuzhou.
