Jiangsu Province has established China’s first EV battery charging and swapping demonstration zone, spanning nearly 500 square kilometers across the cities of Suzhou, Wuxi and Changzhou.
The zone includes approximately 1,300 charging stations and can serve around 500,000 EV owners.
For example, during a trip from Changshu to Yuantouzhu (Turtle Head Isle), a popular attraction in Wuxi, a woman surnamed Li used an app to navigate to the charging station at the Public Resource Trading Center in Binhu District and completed the charging process effortlessly. Li also mentioned that the app is very useful as it shows comprehensive information about nearby charging stations, waiting time, available charging poles, and price variations.
Within the demonstration zone, Xinhu District in Wuxi hosts an advanced pilot hub that integrates solar electricity generation, charging and storage functions. Furthermore, it supports vehicle-to-grid operations, allowing owners to discharge electricity from their car's battery back into the grid during peak hours when demand is high. In return, they can recharge their vehicles during off-peak hours when demand is lower, helping to maintain grid stability.
