Lianyungang Port in East China's Jiangsu Province and Shanghai Port signed a memorandum of understanding on March 15 to promote information interconnection and data sharing between the two sides.
Under the agreement, the two ports will deepen cooperation in shipping agency, container cargo transportation agency, among others, to achieve integrated operation.
In 2022, Lianyungang Port handled nearly 5.6 million TEUs with more than 300 million tons of cargo, an increase of 10.6% and 8.3%, respectively. The number of TEUs in the sea-rail intermodal transport rose by 13.6% year on year to 790,000.
Shanghai Port will also work with Lianyungang Port to implement more preferential measures for the logistics sector, expand the land-sea intermodal transport channels, and support Lianyungang's full integration into the Yangtze River Delta development.
