Foreign trade of Jiangsu Province with countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) rose 13.1% year on year to over 1.49 trillion yuan in 2022, maintaining growth for seven consecutive years.

Lianyungang has played an important role in Jiangsu's ever-growing trade with these countries.

At a rail yard in Lianyungang, some 832 tonnes of grinding balls produced by Longteng Special Steel in Changshu City will soon be exported to Kazakhstan through the freight train service.

The company's deputy general manager Zhang Po said the company's exports of grinding balls to BRI countries in 2022 increased 80% year on year.

Liu Honghai, marketing director of a subsidiary of Lianyungang Port, said the orders to BRI countries via the port surged rapidly last year and this included the export of more than 200,000 vehicles, a record high.
