Jiangsu's foreign trade in 11 months hits 5 trillion yuan, up 6.7%

Jiangsu's foreign trade expanded 6.7% year on year to 5 trillion yuan in the first 11 months of this year, according to Nanjing Customs.

This included exports of 3.19 trillion yuan and imports of 1.81 trillion yuan in the period, up 9.6% and 2% year on year respectively.

Jiangsu's private enterprises achieved foreign trade of 2 trillion yuan in 11 months, a year-on-year growth of 12.3%, accounting for 40.1% of the province's total. Foreign-invested enterprises and state-owned enterprises saw imports and exports of 2.53 trillion yuan and 460.02 billion yuan, up 2.2% and 9.6% respectively.

In the first 11 months, Jiangsu's trade with major partners of European Union, ASEAN, the United States, South Korea and Japan hit 761.97 billion yuan, 751.69 billion yuan, 657.1 billion yuan, 531.11 billion yuan and 401.23 billion yuan, a year-on-year expansion 10.4%, 12.9%, 2.6%, 8.8% and 0.7% respectively.

During the same period, the imports and exports between Jiangsu and countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative reached 1.35 trillion yuan, an increase of 13.8% year on year.

Both new energy and organic chemical exports saw rapid growth. In the first 11 months, Jiangsu's exports of mechanical and electrical products reached 2.11 trillion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 9.5%, accounting for 66.2% of the province's total exports.

The province's imports of agricultural products increased 24.5% year on year to 147.29 billion yuan.
