Environmental authorities in Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang have jointly released a list of environmental requirements to guide development of the demonstration area in the Yangtze River Delta on eco-friendly and integrated development.

The list will serve as an important benchmark for policy formulation, planning, regional development, investment promotion, project construction and supervision for various departments and enterprises. The area includes Qingpu District of Shanghai, Wujiang District of Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province and Jiashan County of Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province.

It has clarified 11 items that the area encourages, 8 tasks to be piloted and 11 issues forbidden. For example, the area spelled out industries and ecological priorities to be promoted, expected moves for high energy-consuming and high-emission industries, and efforts needed to protect the nature reserve, tourist attractions and drinking water sources.

Authorities will also update the list in accordance with development needs.
