COSCO Shipping (Qidong) Offshore completed the building of a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel for BP on September 9, currently the world’s largest platform in terms of daily gas handling capacity.
This is also the first time that BP has commissioned a Chinese shipbuilder to build such a project.
The vessel is 270 meters long, 54 meters wide and 31.5 meters deep, with a life span of 30 years, a storage capacity of no less than 1.44 million barrels, and a capacity to accommodate 140 people in its living quarters.
The floating vessel is scheduled to sail to the coast of Mauritania and Senegal in West Africa to serve the LNG development.
