Jiangsu’s foreign trade up 22.1% in July, with breakthrough in food exports

Jiangsu's import and export volume in July rose by 22.1% percent year on year to 516.94 billion yuan, and the exports featured more delicacies.  

On August 15, Nanjing Bairun Food Co., Ltd. reached a milestone in exporting, with its star product instant Duck Blood Vermicelli Soup, a popular snack of Nanjing, completed customs clearance in Australia.

Yang Juan, manager of the company's foreign trade department, said the company consulted customs on requirements after receiving the first overseas order from Australia and also learned about the country’s quarantine standards for meat imports. 

To support the snack go global, Jinling Customs have adopted the "one-enterprise, one-strategy" approach and actively helped exporters understand the specific standards and requirements of the targeted markets, such as identifying 41 testing items for Bairun. Then Jinling Customs issued the veterinary health certificate for 1,256 boxes of Duck Blood Vermicelli Soup for Bairun on July 11, completing the supervision of the product before its first export declaration. 

Among other developments, the well-known shui mi tao (water honey peaches), a signature seasonal produce from Yixing, was exported to Thailand for the first time in July. Jufeng grape became a new export too in August after passing the inspection and quarantine by Zhenjiang Customs, the first such export in Jiangsu.

Chen Ling, deputy director of the Agricultural and Rural Affairs Bureau of Maoshan Town in Jurong City, said the city will soon export its famous Dingzhuang grape, 4-5 tonnes per week.
