Yu Yunchang, chief engineer of Wujiang Transformer Co Ltd, has recently been elected as a foreign member of the Russian Academy of Engineering. 

A top expert in the field of ultra-high voltage shunt reactors, Yu has won five provincial and ministerial-level awards, including a first prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award. He has overcome three global challenges and advanced the technology level of China’s shunt reactors.  

In 2017, he came to work for Wujiang Transformer and was recognized as a leading professional supported in Suzhou’s “highly skilled worker” talent program.  

In recent years, Suzhou has improved its talent policy with innovation measures taken in the talent introduction, training and performance evaluation steps.
