As enterprises in Suzhou have resumed work and increased production capacities, Xiangcheng District of Suzhou City has donated 50,000 masks each to Italy and Japan to help with the prevention and control of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Trucks carrying boxes of masks left Xiangcheng on the afternoon of March 18 for Shanghai Pudong International Airport, where the supplies will be transported to the two countries.
With the spread of coronavirus in the world, many countries and regions are in urgent need of protective materials. Xiangcheng government decided to donate 50,000 masks each to Recanati city, Italy, and the Aichi Prefecture, Japan.
Xiangcheng government has also sent letters of support to the two countries, adding that the district is willing to strengthen cooperation and share experiences to overcome difficulties in the fight against COVID-19.
Xiangcheng established friendly exchange relationship with Recanati in April 2016, while Jiangsu has maintained a close friendship with Aichi since July 1980.
Meanwhile, Xiangcheng is also accelerating the construction of China-Japan (Suzhou) intelligent manufacturing industry cooperation zone.
