A China-Europe freight train departed from the Jiangsu (Suzhou) International Railway Logistics Center on September 29 as the value of exports transported by the train service exceeded 100 million yuan this year.
The train was loaded with goods that weighed 266.81 tons and with a market value of about 24.25 million yuan. They will be delivered by the freight train to countries including Germany and Poland after crossing the inland port of Alashankou in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
Cheng Xin, head of Suzhou Haimaotong E-commerce Industrial Service Co Ltd, said the stable railway transport has provided a new choice and logistics guarantee for enterprises in the sector.
As the pandemic hit hard the air cargo transport, the freight train creates an important trade channel to efficiently ship goods and boost cross-border e-commerce. Suzhou Customs has also increased efforts to guide enterprises to make full use of the freight train service, such as a joint customs supervision with railway and postal departments to streamline the process. Such efforts are expected to facilitate economic and trade cooperation between the Yangtze River Delta and countries along the Belt and Road initiative.
