Jiangsu has 39 projects and one individual recognized in the National Science and Technology Award Conference in Beijing on November 3.
Jiangsu ranked among the best in the country for the number of winning projects, including 12 completed independently in the province and 27 collaboratively. In breakdown, there are three Natural Science Award winners, eight Technological Innovation Award winners and the rest 28 awarded the Science and Technology Advancement Award.

A team led by Professor Wang Jianguo of Southeast University, also a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, won first prize in the Science and Technology Advancement Award for a project about the theory, key techniques and application in the multi- dimensional preservation of urban architectural heritage. The research has established theoretical framework and technique system that have been applied in preservation of 16 famous historical and cultural cities, 43 world cultural heritage sites and national key cultural venues, and 114 historical blocks. This represented a major progress in adopting a multi-pronged approach to protect the urban architectural heritage and also achieve significant social, economic and environmental benefits.
In addition, a cooperative project with the participation of Professor Zhou Zhihua of Nanjing University won the second prize of the Natural Science Award. This project has made breakthroughs in the theory and method of machine learning, and relevant technology has been applied in large enterprises and national major projects.
