From January to September, the actual use of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Jiangsu reached $22.09 billion, an increase of 27.8% year-on-year and 31.0% over the same period in 2019, ranking first in the country.
FDI into the province’s manufacturing industry expanded by 2.0%, and the total amount accounted for nearly one-third of the country’s total in the nine months. FDI into the province’s service industry also saw a year-on-year growth of 43.9%.
FDI inflow from Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Taiwan and Germany increased by 36.7%, 72.6%, 16.7%, 14.2% and 12.4% year-on-year respectively.
During the period, Jiangsu added 3,052 new foreign-invested enterprises, up 29.1% year-on-year. There are 204 projects above the FDI threshold of $30 million, and together the actual use of foreign fund totaled $13.64 billion, an increase of 51.3%.
