Jiangsu’s transport authorities have continued measures to facilitate foreign trade, which totaled 3.75 trillion yuan in the first three quarters, an increase of 16.5% year-on-year.

The province’s imports and exports to countries along the Belt and Road initiative reached 947.23 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 21.6%. Mechanical and electrical products dominated the foreign trade, accounting for 49% of the total.  From January to September, the province's ports handled 2.38 billion tons of cargo, an up 10.3%.

According to the provincial Department of Transport, efforts have been made to advance international ocean shipping, support companies to increase shipping capacity, increase container operational efficiency, and strive to stabilize the international shipping prices.

Jiangsu’s ports also strengthened connection with ports in Shanghai and Ningbo to optimize the container ship network along the Yangtze River. The province has promoted the high-quality development of China-Europe freight train service in line with the industrial and trade development needs.
