The 2021 Nanjing Government Dialogue was held on March 9. The city’s authorities met with representatives of the EU companies for policy update and exchanges.
The meeting was organized by the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China and Nanjing Municipal Bureau of Commerce. Officials from Nanjing’s Foreign Affairs Office, Development and Reform Commission and several other departments, such as industry and information technology and public security, explained policy and measures related to COVID-19 vaccine, Sino-European travel, investment, visa and tax payments.
At the meeting, Nanjing also introduced the city’s 14th Five-Year Plan, highlighted the development idea of Nanjing Metropolitan Area, introduced preferential measures to facilitate business, and also expressed hope for future cooperation.

Adam Dunnett, secretary general of the European Chamber, said the Nanjing Chapter has the fastest growth in expanding members in China and this also reflects the attraction of investment environment in Nanjing and Jiangsu.
The city’s business environment ranked among the best in China for two years in a row. By the end of 2020, 25 out of 28 EU countries had invested in Nanjing, with a total of 1,062 projects. EU is the second largest source of investment in Nanjing. The agreed investment from EU to the city reached $9.99 billion, and direct investment hit $6.13 billion.
