Jiangsu Division of Maker in China, a nationwide innovation and entrepreneurship competition, held the finals in Suzhou City on August 27.

The competition for SMEs is organized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Ministry of Finance. The theme for this edition is focusing on industrial chain, innovation ecosystem and fund support. Jiangsu has made strides since it joined the competition in 2013.

SMEs are often keener on innovation in both ideas and practical efforts, and the event this year aims to help make breakthroughs, said Li Min, head of the jury and also director of the Jiangsu Institute of Science and Technology Information.

Eight organizations including Bank of Jiangsu, Jiangsu Branch of China Construction Bank, and Maker Community have joined the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Accelerator Program and will continue to provide featured services to SMEs after the competition.

Jiangsu will continue to provide follow-up services such as entrepreneurship advice, investment and financing, credit support, technical assistance, and talent training to SMEs, and hope to incubate more promising programs, said Shi Xiaopeng, deputy director of the Jiangsu Department of Industry and Information Technology.
