Changzhou Treering Plastics Co., Ltd, a professional manufacturer of industrial plastic products in Changzhou City, became the first in China to benefit from the upgraded electronic customs service of issuing Certificate of Origin on August 10.
The certificate is a document used for certification that the products exported are wholly obtained, produced or manufactured in a particular country, thus it is eligible to enjoy certain customs duty rate in accordance with rules of origin set out in the trade agreement.
To get the certificate usually requires the visit to a customs office in person. China’s customs is currently reforming the procedure by replacing the manual work with computer-aided operation, an effort that will also improve standardization and efficiency in order to boost foreign trade.
Amid the reform measures, in last year, an exporting company was able to print the certificate on its own in a couple of minutes after gaining approval. Now, the approval process is getting more intelligent and supporting automatic review, certainly a piece of good news for exporters
Ten customs offices in China have joined the pilot program towards digital, smart operation, with the first certificate automatically issued by Nanjing Customs.
