Changzhou Metro issues commemorative Spring Festival cards

According to Changzhou Metro, commemorative subway cards are to hit the market on Jan. 11 to celebrate the Spring Festival, or China’s Lunar New Year.

The rapid transit system in Changzhou will issue 4,500 sets of collectable subway cards featuring the Year of the Rat as well as Jintan-style paper-cutting, available for purchase online and offline.

Each set includes a ticket for 12 rides, two single-trip tickets, and a paper-cut work. The rat design comes from a creation by Yang Zhaoqun, a master of Jintan-style paper-cutting recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage item for the exquisite craftsmanship.

Yang, who has many of his works collected by National Museum of China, will also hold a signing evet at Chashan Station of Changzhou Metro Line 1 on January 11.

In each year until 2031, Changzhou Metro will issue commemorative subway cards featuring twelve animals representing the Chinese zodiac, namely the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig.
