Nanjing boasts a vibrant nightlife in summer, offering popular destinations for a drink, dinner, show or just a nighttime stroll.

Adorned with colorful displays and neatly arranged food stalls, the night market at Nanjing Longfor Zijin Mall is often packed with visitors eager to enjoy specialty foods from all over the country.

In the Qinhuai District, the Laomendong night market features stalls for a variety of intangible cultural heritage items, ranging from handmade jewelry and wood carvings to clothing, sugar painting and paper cutting. The market in the Taojiaxiang area is known for its integration of street music, specialty foods, and China-chic creations. Laomendong is an iconic destination for tourism, entertainment and dining at night.

The Jinyin Street International Youth Art and Culture Zone hosts about 50 stalls, mainly focusing on light meal, cultural and creative products. The zone represents a delightful fusion of cultural heritage, street life, and boutique stores.

Additionally, the Yiwu Commodity City night market in Nanjing includes shops of snacks, clothes, accessories and toys from across the country. The market also provides cultural performances and entertainment activities, such as parades highlighting cartoon or hanfu, traditional clothing of the Han ethnic group, and karaoke.

Overall, Nanjing has introduced a series of measures, including designating garbage sorting spots and employing sufficient cleaners, to ensure the markets remain clean and tidy. The city plans to improve its development and management of night markets through scientific methods to promote the stable and healthy development of the nighttime economy.
