The railway network across the Yangtze River Delta region handled 177 million passenger trips from July 1 to August 31, representing an increase of 9 million trips compared to the same period last year or a year-on-year growth of 6%.

Daily passenger trips exceeded over 2.6 million for 48 days in this summer travel season, setting a historical record of 3.45 million passenger trips on August 24.

Authorities optimised train operation plans in response to the passenger flow changes and weather conditions, by adding a total of 5,556 passenger train rides to accommodate the increased demand.

Intelligent technology was also employed to enhance the travelling experience. The train repair and maintenance centers in Shanghai, Nanjing, Hefei and Hangzhou improved real-time supervision of trains. Hangzhou West Railway Station featured a PV power station to increase the use of clean energy.
