Authorities from Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang jointly released a report on June 4 on the ecological and environmental quality of the green and integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta pilot zone.
The report shows that the pilot zone achieved stable ecological and environmental quality in 2023 amid economic recovery and steady growth. The ratio of days with good air quality reached 84.1%, also with an increase in the number of rare species.
Inaugurated in November 2019, the pilot zone has implemented a "joint river chief system," by enforcing unified standards, and collaborating on regular monitoring of water quality, enforcement meetings, and cleanup initiatives for rivers and lakes.
The report also announced a list of 21 enterprises with top environmental performance, part of efforts to promote the green transformation of more enterprises. The event also marked the launch of an environment-themed photography study tour and the signing of an agreement for biodiversity protection in the pilot zone.
