Delegation Committments丨Wang Jinjian: Yangzhou strives to make more contribution

Wang Jinjian, head of Yangzhou delegation at the "two sessions" of Jiangsu Province, introduced Yangzhou will focus on a five-pronged strategy to boost its economic and social development in 2024.

First, to expand investment and stimulate consumption simultaneously. The city will continuously expand effective investment and bolster private investment, aiming to sign more than 1,000 new projects, each involving an investment of more than 100 million yuan. Yangzhou will coordinate the expansion of the consumer economy, including spending on big-ticket items, and aims to achieve a GDP growth of 6.5%.

Second, to promote S&T innovation and industrial innovation simultaneously. Yangzhou will advance the upgrading of traditional industries, boost the development of emerging industries, and make early moves in industries of the future. It plans to facilitate the deep integration of industry, innovation, talent and investment, aiming to cultivate 10 enterprises each with an output value of 10 billion yuan.

Third, to make efforts in ancient culture and modernity simultaneously. As a historical and cultural city, Yangzhou will advance the preservation and renewal of its heritage to enhance its significance in the country. It will improve public cultural services, and further strengthen its iconic reputation as a blend of ancient and modernity.  Fourth, to control pollution and enhance the environment simultaneously. Yangzhou will further efforts to improve the quality of air, water and soil, advance the protection of the Yangtze River and the construction of the Yangtze River-Huaihe River Ecological Corridor, and push forward the afforestation campaign.

Fifth, to close the gap and promote public wellbeing simultaneously. Yangzhou intends to develop itself into a city that is friendly to the elderly, children and youths. More efforts will be made to enhance the people's sense of fulfillment, happiness and security.
