Yangtze River Delta benefits from next-day delivery service

Cainiao Network, the logistics arm of Alibaba Group, and STO Express announced on May 24 to jointly launch a “next-day delivery” service in China’s two key economic hubs, the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta.

The Yangtze River Delta, consisting of Shanghai and the provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui, is one of the most populated and urbanized city clusters in the country.

Under the logistics upgrade program, STO Express will deliver products, including consumer electronics and beauty care supplies, to customers in key cities within the two delta regions on the next day.

Consumers will be able to see the "next-day delivery" mark on the product details page when placing an order online, and they will be compensated for a dealy in delivery.

The new service, supported by Cainiao Network, has set two industry records. The last order can be placed as late as 10:00 pm, and 90% of all orders will be delivered the next day, resulting in an average package delivery time of eight hours. Furthermore, the next-day delivery timeframe starts from the completion of online payment for an order, rather than the moment of collecting, until the customer receives the package.
