Nanjing entered into the sister-city relationship with Khentii, a province of Mongolia and Birmingham, a city in England after signing agreements online during the opening ceremony of the 2022 Nanjing International Sister and Friendly Cooperation Cities Week on July 5.
The city also signed a letter of intent and a memorandum of understanding to establish sister-city relationship with Lahore in Pakistan and Victoria in Seychelles.
Nanjing and Nagoya, Japan became sister cities in 1978, the first of its kind in the coastal province. Nanjing has actively promoted international cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, science and technology, and culture.
Currently, Nanjing has 25 sister cities in the world and 76 cities in the friendly cooperation relationship. The 101 cities in 54 countries form a global network for Nanjing as it goes all out to build itself into an international city.
To cope with the impact of COVID-19, the capital city of Jiangsu has launched a virtual platform “LINK Nanjing” to continue the global outreach. This platform focuses on four major functions - promotion, investment attraction, experience sharing and policy consultation.
