In the period, the coastal province also helped 163,200 unemployed people and 53,900 people faced with employability challenges in urban areas to find new jobs.

As COVID-19 upended labor markets, public employment service agencies at all levels reported the declining number of job openings and on-site visits by job-seekers.

The Department of Human Resources and Social Security has also introduced 12 measures to help keep the job market stable. It granted 129 million yuan as subsidy for vocational skills training, distributed 37.9 million yuan in unemployment insurance premium refunds, and reduced the enterprise contribution of unemployment and work injury insurance premiums by 3.814 billion yuan.

Jiangsu is expected to see a record of 10.76 million new graduates from its universities and colleges in 2022, further intensifying the job hunting competition. In response, the province’s many government departments including the Department of Education will launch a series of measures to support job-seeking and start-up initiatives since April.
