Jiangsu’s task force for COVID-19 response met on the night of March 19 to implement the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s speech at a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.

The provincial meeting heard reports on the prevention and control of the epidemic in Changzhou, Nanjing, Wuxi, Lianyungang and Suzhou cities.

Jiangsu governor Xu Kunlin said, as COVID-19 situation remains grim and complicated, the province needs to work closely and resolutely to contain the virus’ spread.

Stronger efforts are needed to tighten the measures across the society, enhance the epidemiological investigation and contact tracing to be more targeted and swifter, improve science-based decision of testing, and streamline the whole process to be efficient.

He called for efforts to optimize the transport control in areas with COVID-19 cases and adopt the new approach of combining antigen detection and nucleic acid testing to minimize the risk of infection. Meanwhile, Jiangsu needs to improve its emergency response capacity and accelerate the building of testing centers and centralized quarantine facilities.

It’s necessary to strengthen epidemic monitoring, optimize early detection, and strictly prevent and control outbreaks in schools, said Xu. Meanwhile, the province’s health QR needs to be upgraded and give full play to the role of Big Data.
