Jiangsu Province has recently rolled out a plan to promote and upgrade consumption during the 14th Five-Year Plan, part of efforts to build a consumer-driven society.
The guideline sets out eight key tasks including vigorous efforts to optimize market supply, such as improving the product quality and expanding domestic sales channels of export products, upgrade consumption of goods, such as automobiles, home appliances and furniture, and advance the service consumption, such as regulating the tutoring sector and supporting elderly and children care.
The province also aims to boost new types of consumption including application of the Internet in the service sector while advancing construction of modern logistics system.
According to the plan, Jiangsu will build platforms for cross-border e-commerce and international consumption, enhance the global reputation of tourist attractions, support the night-time economy, and improve farmers' income and rural consumption.
