The 2021 National Science and Technology Week alongside with the 33rd S&T Publicity Week of Jiangsu Province kicked off at the Nanjing Science and Technology Museum on May 22.
At the opening ceremony, the China Rural Special Technology Association and the Jiangsu Association for Science and Technology signed an agreement to promote the innovation-driven development. The two sides will introduce more S&T resources from national societies and associations to land in the coastal province, supporting the province’s rural revitalization campaign.
As part of the events, the Aerospace Science Exhibition featured milestones in the country’s history of space exploration, such as the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS), lunar exploration and Mars spacecraft landing. Visitors were most interested in the moon samples brought back by the Chang'e-5 probe at the exhibition.
The Jiangsu Emergency Response Security Technology and Equipment Exhibition Zone highlighted more than 10 large vehicles and cutting-edge devices and also encouraged the public participation in the engaging, interactive programs.
During the National Science and Technology Week, Jiangsu will host 2,890 online and on-site activities to improve the public awareness of science and technology. Meanwhile, the province’s national laboratories, engineering centers, research institutions and universities will also open their S&T resources to the public. Among them, the number of research institutions and universities in the campaign will reach 128.
