According to Nanjing’s Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the city has rolled out a guideline to promote the use of green building materials in government procurement programs.
In October last year, Nanjing was listed as a pilot city by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development to expand the use of green construction materials.
The city has made progress in researching, setting up technical standards, and working out a planning. The guideline involves technical requirements, design priorities, application platforms and other aspects in government procurement of green building materials.
According to the guideline, Nanjing will seek technical support from professional agencies and work out specific requirements that meet the national standards and fit the city’s actual condition.
Nanjing will also release information on green building materials products that meet the technical requirements or have passed third-party testing for certification. The city will also be supported by a team of experts in promoting the initiative.
