Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, had a virtual meeting with SK Group chairman Chey Tae-won on the morning of February 4 and granted him the title of Honorary Citizenship of Jiangsu Province.

On behalf of the committee and provincial government, Lou expressed his congratulation to Chey and thanked him for his long-term support for Jiangsu’s development. Lou said Mr. Chey truly deserves this title, the highest honor bestowed upon foreigners by the province.

Lou also said, despite the COVID-19 disruption, Jiangsu and SK Group have cooperated closely and promoted the smooth development of key initiatives. Both sides should deepen strategic cooperation, seize opportunities in China’s new development pattern, and upgrade the industrial chain and supply chain as well as the China-Korea (Yancheng) Industrial Park. Efforts should be made to strengthen cooperation in ecological and environmental protection so as to promote exchanges to a new height.

Chey congratulated Jiangsu for its remarkable achievements in epidemic control and economic and social development, and expressed his gratitude to Jiangsu’s strong support to SK Group, especially for the great assistance in the pandemic response.

He said it’s a great honor for him to win the recognition and SK Group has become a member of the big Jiangsu family. Efforts will be made to overcome the impact of the pandemic, speed up cooperative projects, expand cooperation in more areas, better fulfill the corporate social responsibility, and contribute more to the province’s modernization drive.

During the meeting, both sides had in-depth exchanges on major projects and reached a broad consensus.
