The General Office of the Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government has recently rolled out a revised action plan for heavy pollution days, making changes to the identification standards, emergency response and supportive measures.

Jiangsu will adopt a three-tier color-coded warning system for days with serious air pollution, with red representing the most severe pollution, followed by orange and yellow. Decisions will be made by the Yangtze River Delta Regional Air Quality Forecast Center and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment.

The emergency response plan adds provisions for performance evaluation and emission reduction. According to the pollution control equipment, technology and other factors, the province’s key industry enterprises will fall into several categories that lead to differentiated control measures.
