Jiangsu guarantees services during Spring Festival holiday

Six governmental departments in Jiangsu Province have announced a series of measures to ensure a good job in providing services to people during the upcoming Spring Festival holiday, according to a press conference on February 1.

The province’s Public Security Department will take the lead in organizing the targeted response against COVID-19, such as strengthening the management of key venues.

Li Shaodong, deputy director of the Jiangsu Provincial Health Commission, said that the province currently has 486 medical institutions for nucleic acid testing and emergency departments of all hospitals will open 24 hours during the holiday.

The province also gets ready 27,000 vehicles to transport up to 1.198 million road passengers, 48,000 buses in cities, and 7,600 rail transit rides. Jiangsu will increase the use of information technology to ensure the smooth operations of public transport network.

Commerce authorities will guide retail enterprises to open as usual during the holiday. At present, Nanjing’s 224 farmers' markets have announced to remain open. Meanwhile, the online shopping festival for Spring Festival has also been launched.

The departments of Civil Affairs and Finance have allocated 103 million yuan as the New Year and Spring Festival subsidies to support the disadvantaged groups, such as orphans.

Chang Shengmei, deputy director of the province’s Department of Culture and Tourism, said there will be more than 1,000 events both online and offline to celebrate the most important festival for Chinese. The province's 315 tourist attractions above A level will open for free admission during the period. In addition, the extensive application of new media and communication technologies will greatly enrich people's holiday experience.
