The executive committee of Yangtze River Delta Ecologically Friendly Development Zone and Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security jointly launched a new policy to facilitate foreign talent working in the zone to apply for Shanghai Overseas Talent Residence Permit.
The zone spans Qingpu District in Shanghai, Wujiang District in Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province and Jiashan County in Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province. Foreign talent who has the residence permit can enjoy preferential treatment in nine areas including medical care, housing, children's education, professional qualifications and financial services.
According to the new policy, foreigners must meet two conditions to apply for the permit -working for an employer registered in the zone or setting up an enterprise in the zone, and holding a Permanent Resident Card for Foreigners.
Foreign professionals in Wujiang and Jiashan can apply for the Shanghai permit. The zone aims to blaze a trail in coordinated green development, as part of the bigger integrated development of the delta region, which is a national strategy.
