The Youth in Action event was held in Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu Province, on September 21 to observe the International Day of Peace.
The International Day of Peace is devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace through observing 24 hours of non-violence and cease-fire.
The event was jointed organized by UNESCO, China National Commission for UNESCO, Information Office of Jiangsu People’s Government, and Nanjing People’s Government.
Many young people gathered in Nanjing at the event to carry out a series of exchange activities, share practices that can promote peace and reconciliation, and express wishes for a world without violence and war.
UNESCO and Nanjing also signed a MOU to strengthen cooperation in initiatives building peaceful environment and advocate peace and inclusion.
The event also announced the start of the Nanjing Peace Forum 2020, which aims to build a platform for international cooperation and dialogue.
The forum will be co-hosted by UNESCO, China National Commission for UNESCO, Information Office of Jiangsu People’s Government, and Nanjing People’s Government, and held once a year from 2020 to 2022.
The first Nanjing Peace Forum will be held in Nanjing on October 24 this year.
