Jiangsu Provincial Archives pays tribute to COVID-19 response medics

The Jiangsu Provincial Archives received donation of 40 GB of valuable information related to the COVID-19 response including 162 personal logs, over 2,000 photos, 147 video footages, 390 news reports and other writings. It also included personal documents of 2,820 medical professionals sent to help combat the pandemic in Hubei Province.

The administration, together with the Xinhua Daily Media Group and the Jiangsu section of the app Xuexi Qiangguo - “study and make the nation great,” took the lead in initiating the program to keep archives for those on the front line fighting the pandemic.

Qiu Haibo, member of the experts team of the National Health Commission and deputy Party secretary of Zhongda Hospital Southeast University donated digital files to the administration on the morning of June 29. Qiu was on the front line of fighting against the pandemic for 139 days.

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, once said that archives are important because they record history, experiences and insights to promote better development. Jiangsu’s initiative to build archives to pay tribute to the health workers has won wide praises and support.

Meanwhile, the online portal, donated by the Xinhua Daily Media Group in the ceremony, already went live on May 20. It has collected 6,500 pieces of information of those medical professionals, in the form of text, audio, and video. Each of the 2,820 people has an exclusive webpage to introduce their efforts in coping with the public health crisis.
