Lianyungang City in Jiangsu Province rolled out ten measures to improve people's livelihood and stimulate consumption during a press conference on May 6.
Data showed, by the end of April, the city’s many sectors including catering, housekeeping, department stores, clothing and home appliances reported a decline of revenues by 50 percent than in last year due to the COVID-19 outbreak. About 10 to 20 percent of small businesses faced the risk of closure.
To boost economic recovery, the city decided to distribute 50 million yuan worth of digital coupons, for use in services hit hard by the pandemic, such as catering, sports and tourism. Such coupons are estimated to help generate consumption spending of over 500 million yuan. Residents can use the city’s app to make reservation and win the coupons after a lottery draw.
Through the use of a smart tourism system, the coastal city will offer free digital tickets to many scenic spots in order to attract tourists from the country.
